Octopus is a small beachfront retreat on Bali’s quiet north-east coast, far from the busy south. Nine private villas, tropical gardens, and the sea just across the path.
Here you can slow down, enjoy your own pool, snorkel on the house reef, or use Octopus as a base to explore North and East Bali.
Octopus is not a traditional hotel. It’s a place for people who value privacy, nature, and the freedom to spend their days their own way.
Our Story
How Octopus Began
Our story began in 2009, when we moved from Ukraine to Bali and found this quiet piece of coastline in North Bali.
As passionate divers, one of the most important things for us was the sea. We were looking for a place with a beautiful coral reef right in front of the property — and this is where we found it.
What started with a single villa and an idea for a small dive retreat gradually grew into what Octopus is today. Over the years, we built the villas one by one, never following a single plan or style. Our ideas and tastes changed along the way, which is why each of our nine villas has its own design, atmosphere and character.
More than 17 years later, we still live here, continue to dive, and enjoy sharing this part of Bali with our guests.
Where we are
Destination
Octopus is located on Bali’s quiet north-east coast, far from the busy tourist areas of the south. This is a different side of the island — peaceful, less developed and much closer to everyday Balinese life.
The sea is right in front of the property, with our house reef just offshore. Behind us are mountains, traditional villages and the landscapes of North and East Bali. Waterfalls, temples, diving sites and scenic mountain roads are all within easy reach.
Octopus consists of nine private villas: six one-bedroom villas, two two-bedroom villas and one four-bedroom villa, surrounded by tropical gardens and just steps from the sea.
This is still tropical Bali, and nature is part of the experience. Geckos, frogs, butterflies and other small visitors are a normal part of life here.
If you are looking for nightlife, shopping malls and busy streets, South Bali may suit you better. If you prefer space, privacy, nature and a quieter side of the island, you will feel at home here.

Prices, payments & currency
Villa rates are listed in USD and include all applicable taxes.
Our main currency is USD. Payments for accommodation can also be made in IDR, EUR or AUD by bank transfer. The amount in another currency will be calculated using the applicable exchange rate at the time of payment.
Payments via PayPal are also available and are subject to a 3.9% fee.
Additional expenses during your stay can be paid on site in cash (USD, EUR or IDR) or by credit/debit card with a 2% processing fee.

Privacy
Each villa offers a private space with its own pool, terrace and entrance. As the villas are beachfront and open to the natural surroundings, some outdoor areas may be partially visible from the beach.
Nude swimming in your private pool is welcome, as long as it does not cause discomfort to others.
In-villa kitchen
Meals
All meals are prepared in our separate kitchen and served directly at your villa. We offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a selection of Indonesian and international dishes.
You can order from our menu and enjoy your meal in the privacy of your villa, on the terrace or by the pool. If you have any dietary preferences or special requests, just let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Getting around
Transportation
Private transportation can be arranged for airport transfers, day trips and exploring Bali at your own pace.
A private car with driver costs USD 55 for up to 8 hours. Additional time is USD 6 per hour.
If you prefer to explore on your own, you can also rent a scooter for USD 10 per day or a Kawasaki Versys 250 motorcycle for USD 40 per day.

Sightseeing
Octopus is a great base for exploring North and East Bali. Waterfalls, temples, traditional villages, diving sites and beautiful mountain landscapes are all within easy reach.
You can explore independently by scooter or motorcycle, or we can arrange a private car with a driver for the day.
We will be happy to suggest places to visit and help you plan a route depending on what you would like to see.
Climate
Weather
Bali has a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year.
The dry season generally runs from April to December, with less rainfall and lower humidity. The rainy season is usually from December to March, but this does not mean it rains all day or every day. Rain often comes in short tropical showers, with plenty of sunny weather in between.
Daytime temperatures are typically around 28–32°C, with warm evenings throughout the year.
